More about Resident Evil 4 (2023)
Capcom's 2023 RE4 remake on the same REFramework foundation
Resident Evil 4 (2023 remake) is Capcom's reimagining of the 2005 classic, on the same RE Engine that powers MH:World, MH Rise, RE2, and RE3. The modding scene followed quickly, REFramework support landed within weeks of launch, and the catalogue is now mature.
Mods range from cosmetic (outfit packs, character model replacements) to gameplay (difficulty adjustments, weapon balance) to comedic (the inevitable "replace Leon with a meme character" mods).
The toolchain
- REFramework: same Lua framework as the other Capcom RE Engine games.
- Fluffy Mod Manager: supports RE4 (2023).
- Direct file overrides for asset replacements.
What you'll find on OpenMods
RE4 (2023) mods live primarily on Nexus Mods. GitHub hosts source for REFramework. OpenMods catalogues GitHub-published RE4 content.
Practical notes
- 2023 remake, not the 2005 original. Different games. This catalogue is for the remake.
- Mods may affect anti-cheat in The Mercenaries mode. Story-mode modding is safe; online mode considerations exist.
- Capcom patches break REFramework periodically. Update accordingly.
